A DOG walker was attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier in a Bolton park.

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident in Queens Park, near the Spa Road entrance, on January 1 as a ‘dangerous dog incident’.

A force spokeswoman said: “We were called at 11.15am to Queens Park, Chorley New Road, by a woman who said both she and her dogs had been attacked.

“She has received facial and hand injuries and her white West Highland terrier was injured.

“She described the dog which attacked them as a white Staffordshire bull terrier.

“The dog that attacked them was with a second dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog, which did not attack.

“They were loose and not with an owner.”

Police said the Staffordshire bull terrier that bit the woman and her pet was seized although it could not say by whom.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 and quote incident reference number 1595 of January 1 2017.
