CONTROVERSIAL plans to build nearly 130 new homes in Westhoughton will be decided next week.
The proposals, which have been put forward by developer Bellway Homes will be on the agenda when the council’s planning committee meets on Thursday.
If approved, 129 new properties will be created on land off Collingwood Way and Old Lane.
Since the application was submitted last year it has drawn criticism from residents and local councillors who believe that no more housing should be built in Westhoughton until better infrastructure is created.
Westhoughton is also set to bear the brunt of the planned Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, with thousands of homes set to be built on green spaces in and around the town.
The council’s planning committee meeting will take place on Thursday at 2pm inside the lecture theatre of Bolton Central Library.
