STAFF and pupils at James Brindley Community Primary School are celebrating after Ofsted inspectors gave them the highest praise they could.

From teaching and learning, to personal development, behaviour and welfare of the pupils, Ofsted inspectors rated everything as simply outstanding.

Head teacher Chris Moore at the Walkden school said the report had made his Christmas.

“Everyone in school works so hard to do the very best for our pupils and to have that recognised and praised by Ofsted inspectors really is a great Christmas present,” he said.

“We set high standards for our pupils and support them all the way to achieve their very best. They love learning and are very proud of their school and their achievements.”

Inspectors praised Mr Moore’s clear and effective leadership, the excellent relationships between teachers, pupils and parents and the way pupils behave ‘exceptionally well’ in lessons and are ‘polite and kind to each other.’

They said attendance and achievement are high at the school thanks to its family atmosphere and rich curriculum.

And the only advice they had for the school to improve further was to make play and learning even more challenging and enjoyable for the very youngest pupils.

This could be helped by building on training for early years teachers to enhance the skills and confidence of new team members.
