WITNESSES are being sought to a collision in which a teenage girl was injured.

The girl suffered a broken leg and arm injuries after being hit by a silver Renault Megane on busy Mort Lane – linking Little Hulton to Tyldesley – today.

It happened at just before 7.20am close to the junction with Heathfield Drive and paramedics found her lying on the ground next to the car.

Traffic officers took to Twitter to appeal for any motorists who saw the collision to get in touch.

They said: "We attended a serious injury collision on Mort Lane between Tyldesley and Little Hulton.

"Traffic was heavy when 17-year-old female was struck by a car.

"There must be witnesses. Send any dashcam footage to PC Hughes."

A spokesman for the police said the driver of the car stopped at the scene and there have been no arrests.

The teenage girl was taken to Salford Royal Hospital for treatment.
