TODAY is the final day for Bolton residents to have their say over what is built in their borough over the next two decades.

The deadline for consultation on the controversial Greater Manchester Spatial Framework plan will arrive at 11.59 pm tonight.

Residents are being urged to have their say on the final day of the consultation regarding a plan that could see more than 16,000 houses built in the Bolton borough before 2035.

Each Greater Manchester borough council has put forward submissions for the building of houses and industrial developments in its own areas.

In Bolton, campaigners are unhappy about the potential 7,000 homes that could be built on green spaces around the borough, including proposed large developments in the Westhoughton area.

One of those, Bolton West MP Chris Green said: “I along with local Conservative councillors have been making the case that plans for thousands of houses across our green fields and in already very congested areas is bad news for the people of Bolton West and Atherton.”
