SPECIALIST officers are investigating an Instagram account they believe was used to distribute child pornography via the internet.

Officers from Operation Avert, which is tackling child sexual exploitation (CSE) in the Walkden ad Little Hulton areas. said the account on the photograph-sharing social media app “appears to have been used to post indecent images of local children on the site”.

The Instagram Account was live and active up until January 11.

It has since been de-activated.

Officers said: “Enquiries are ongoing to trace potential victims and young people who may have been affected.

“An investigation is taking place in order to identify the user/administrator of the account.

“Once the user of the account has been identified positive action will be taken.”
