RESIDENTS have been prosecuted as part of the council’s continued crackdown on fly-tipping.

Four more people who left waste, including bulky furniture and bin bags, in the wrong place have been convicted and sentenced in their absence.

Cllr Nick Peel, Bolton Council’s executive cabinet member for environmental services, said: “We will continue to crack down on fly tipping, which causes all sorts of problems for local residents. The waste also costs local taxpayers for the council to remove it.”

Peter Stojka, of Chorley Old Road, Halliwell, was found guilty at Bolton Magistrates’ Court of fly-tipping. He dumped seven black bin bags on or before October 13 last year in Kirkhall Lane, Heaton. The 26-year-old was £120 and ordered to pay £696.98 costs on top of a £44 victim surcharge.

Mario Horvath left a sofa and cushions in the back street behind where the 26-year-old lives in Longden Street, Bolton, some time around September 29.

He was convicted of fly-tipping and was fined £120 beyond having to pay £662.62 in costs and a £44 victim surcharge.

He was fined £120 and owes £173 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for the offence committed on or about October 17 last year.
