THIS is the shocking moment when a man fired a sawn-off shotgun at a home in Bolton - shattering a window.

Shortly before 7.10pm on Wednesday 11 January 2017, police were called to Ashbourne Avenue, to reports of a man with a gun.

Officers attended and found gunshot damage to a window of a property on the street.

Police enquiries established that two men had ridden a moped onto Ashbourne Avenue, one carrying what is believed to be a sawn-off shotgun. The passenger got off the motorbike and fired a shot towards a house.

The passenger then got back on the motorbike and drove away towards Bromwich Street.

Police have launched an investigation and have released CCTV images in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Danny Brophy of GMP's Bolton Borough said: "I want to reassure the community that a specialist team of officers is working on this case to establish the facts and identify the people involved.

"Fortunately, no-one was hurt, but we believe this was a targeted attack, though the motive is not clear.

"We have released CCTV images and, although they aren't of great quality, I'm hoping they may jog someone's memory who saw the men on the moped.

"If you were in the area at that time you may have key information that could help our investigation, so I would urge you to get in touch."
