TWO women were served raw chicken and mouldy cake by a takeaway.

Amy Warren and Kelly Carr were shocked when they tucked into the food from Yoloz Burger and Shakes Bar in Bolton.

Mrs Warren, aged 23, ordered chicken from the Bridge Street business to be delivered to her home in Stockdale Grove in Breightmet. She said: “As soon as I saw it, it made my stomach turn and I was throwing up. The day after I just felt so rough. I was so poorly from that and I didn’t have time to go to the doctors. I don’t think I can ever eat chicken again.”

Ms Carr, who lives in Brockenhurst Drive, ordered from the same takeaway and was going to treat her son Michael, who suffers from leukaemia, with a cake.

She said: “When I went to eat the cake I spat it out. It was just all fluffy and there was mould on the green icing. It’s just a good thing I noticed it before my son ate any of it. It’s disgusting and it’s unacceptable.”

Both were offered refunds by Yoloz but they both complained to Bolton Council.

Mohammad Farzand, manager at Yoloz, which has a three star food hygiene rating, apologised and said the chicken was a mistake by a new member of staff while having to cope with staff shortages. He said they had missed the mould on the cake as it was hard to identify. He added: “Everybody here is so apologetic and we’ve done everything to try and make things better. We sent our drivers round to offer refunds but they just wanted to keep the food. We make pennies not pounds and we work really hard to keep the business going. We’re not angels, we are human. Mistakes happen and we will learn from them. But 99 per cent of our customers enjoy and appreciate our food and service.”

A council spokesman said: “We received a complaint about undercooked chicken. The team contacted the food business operator, gave them advice on improving their procedures, and updated the member of the public who had contacted us. We also received a complaint about cake being mouldy which we will be investigating.”
