A TAXI driver who experienced depression was found dead at home, an inquest heard.

Barry McDonald was discovered hanged at his Gleneagles, Bolton, property by his partner on January 29.

An inquest into the 35-year-old’s death was opened and adjourned at Bolton Coroner’s Court yesterday.

Coroner’s officer Julie-Ann Hyde told the hearing Mr McDonald, a single man, suffered from depression – which had worsened since Christmas – and he would drink heavily.

She said his body was discovered when his girlfriend returned to the home from picking up some food.

The post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as hanging and toxicology samples had been sent off for analysis.

Police concluded there was no third party involvement or suspicious circumstances.

Assistant coroner Timothy Brennand adjourned the inquest until June 5 and ordered reports from the deceased’s GP and the drug and alcohol services and mental health services.
