BURGLARS broke into a McDonald’s restaurant in Westhoughton and stole money from the safe.
Police were called to the incident shortly before 5.05am on Wednesday.
The thieves forced their way into the Pavilion Square premises before forcing open the safe and fleeing with “a quantity of cash”.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said investigations are currently ongoing.
A spokesman from McDonald’s said: “We can confirm there was a theft at our Westhoughton restaurant in the early hours of this morning.
“We are co-operating fully with the police in their enquiries and cannot comment further at this time.”
One resident who lives nearby said: “It is usually quite a quiet and safe place around here. It is quite scary.”
