A HORWICH firm is featuring in a new television show presented by interior designer, Linda Barker.

ITV’s The Home Game will be screened on Friday, March 3 and will include Sanctum Garden Studios planning and installing an art studio for Windermere based artist, Karen Wallis.

Sanctum director Sam Cullen, who features in the show, said: “The idea came about after a visit to our workshop by Karen’s father-in-law who explained that his son and daughter-in-law wanted a studio at their new house in The Lakes.

“Karen got in touch and explained that she needed a garden room to be used as an art studio, which needed to have lots of light and had to be positioned in a slightly elevated place with views of Lake Windermere.

Sam said there were still a number of challenges to making sure the studio worked perfectly for Karen, not least ensuring it fitted her easel and also offered heat in the winter and cool air in the summer.

Sam explained: “Everything went smoothly with the installation although the height of the base did pose some challenges meaning that the team needed to erect a scaffold safely around it in order to build it safely.

“We built Karen a bespoke contemporary studio with a large overhang and lots of glazing, we added a set of bespoke French doors, a door at the rear and a large full height fixed window to the side. The interior was plastered and painted and inset downlighters were added in the ceiling.

After the build Karen said: “I’m delighted with my fabulous new studio. I knew the design I wanted and Sanctum were so helpful in making my dream a reality. I can’t thank them and the team enough for their commitment and professionalism.”

Each episode will feature four properties and their owners who are about to embark on a home renovation – from high end kitchen extensions to bedrooms on a budget; restorations and rebuilds to gardens and garage conversions.

At the beginning of each of the four stories participants discover how much their house is worth and what their budget is. At the end participants discover how much they spent and how much their house is now worth. Whoever has made the most profit is the winner of The Home Game.
