BOLTON is fast becoming a go-to location for Hollywood blockbusters and hit television shows.

As the world’s attention is on Hollywood following the 2017 Oscars, Bolton is playing a key part in the world of television and film.

During the last financial year, the town received 199 film requests, but that figure is expected to be a lot more by the end of this month.

Notable films include the award-winning A Monster Calls starring Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver while other A-listers have been seen filming in Bolton including Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy for Peaky Blinders.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Cllr Ebrahim Adia, said: “Bolton has gained a great reputation for being a film friendly town.

“We always happy to help to facilitate any requests which come to us. The team who facilitate filming requests has built up good contacts with location managers and with Creative England, which is a first stop for film companies seeking locations in the area.

“Many film companies have used Bolton as a backdrop over the years and productions with a Bolton link include Last Tango in Halifax, Coronation Street, Life on Mars and many others.

“Filming puts the borough on the map and profiles Bolton to millions of viewers on prime-time television and in the cinema.”

Most recent shoots have included Last Tango in Halifax, films in the historic Le Mans Crescent, Cold Feet at Bolton School, and previous shows include Life on Mars.
