ROYAL MAIL has announced that it is increasing the price of stamps next month.
From March 27 the cost of a first class stamp will go up 1p to 65p and a second class letter will also increase by 1p to 56p.
A spokesman for Royal Mail said the increase is necessary to “help ensure the sustainability of the universal postal service”.
The cost of a first class large letter is also going up 2p to 98p whilst there is a 1p increase to 76p for a second class large letter.
“Royal Mail understands how hard it is for many companies and households in the current economic environment,” said the spokesman.
“We considered pricing changes very carefully.”
