A NINE-hour hike covering 22 miles has been arranged in aid of a mum-of-three battling to beat terminal cancer.
The family of Polly Haydock, of Gadbury Fold, Atherton, are trying to raise another £200,000 so the 37-year-old can complete a full course of revolutionary immunotherapy treatment in Germany.
Ninety-five trucks drove from Lymm in Warrington to Bolton Wanderers' Macron Stadium on Saturday to raise more than £2,000 for Polly.
The sponsored trek from Rivington Pike to Darwen Tower and back on April 22 aims to generate £5,000.
Fundraisers will set off at 8am and aim to complete the hike by 5pm.
Polly's friend Joanne Howcroft, who is among those taking part, said: “It is going to be a big challenge and a test of fitness, but I want to do it for such a worthy course.
“Polly’s treatment is working so we need to keep trying to raise funds for her.”
The Polly’s Angels fundraising group is also taking on the challenge.
It was completed by the Sally’s Army group three years ago in aid of Horwich woman Sally Duncan, who died from ovarian cancer last year.
Sally’s Army members are determined to repeat the feat in April to help Polly and her family.
