DELAYS and cancellations caused chaos for commuters at Bolton railway station this morning.
A number of trains were cancelled and delayed into Manchester this morning.
Congestion on the line has led to services to Manchester Airport being terminated at Piccadilly.
Congestion had a knock on effect on services departing Bolton for Manchester.

Rail users stuck at Bolton tweeted about the chaos. There were reports of passengers being left on the platform because they couldn't squeeze on to cramped train carriages.

The chaos is likely to increase on Monday, when industrial action by rail staff will lead to a reduced service.
