LOVERS of a particular tipple can enjoy an entire weekend of it on tap this May.

Supposedly it is the habit of the Queen to enjoy a gin just before lunch, and now Boltonians can enjoy the same.

From May 26 to 27 there will plenty of opportunities to try out the beverage when the Gin Society comes to town.

A relatively new group, it has chosen to host one of its first festivals at the Albert Hall.

At the festival visitors can enjoy a selection of 90 different gins and perhaps learn a few facts they didn’t know about the legendary libation.

The Society was formed a year ago and has held events in Manchester Cathedral and Lancaster Town Hall.

Organising committee member Shelagh Bourke said: “We are a fairly new company and are excited to be coming to Bolton and the refurbished hall, it is a beautiful building.

“We have wanted to come to the town for a while because of the town hall, we like to chose unique locations for our event.

“It’s a small company, so what we do is quite personal and we try to keep things really lovely.

“The event has a vintage feel with a 30s, 40s and 50s vibe.

“There will be music and quite a ‘genteel’ atmosphere.”

Gins from around the region, the UK and beyond will be on offer, including a wide range of fruit gins.

Throughout the day and evening, distillers will also be sharing their skills in a series of Gin Masterclasses.

As well as gin, the society will be serving its sloe gin and Prosecco fizz, cocktails and a small selection of other beverages.

Botanical Brewers Fentimans will be supplying tonic waters and, for those who like something a little different with their gin, Rose Lemonade will also be available.

The popular event runs from 6.30pm to 11pm on Friday and from 12.30pm to 5pm and 6.30pm to 11pm on Saturday.

Tickets for each session are £7.50, plus booking fee. All gins and tonics with special garnishes are priced at £5.

Included in the entry price is a Gin Society gin goblet to keep as a special souvenir, plus a booklet of tasting notes. To find out more about the event, visit theginsociety-bolton2017.eventbrite.co.uk.
