YOUNG theatre goers got in on the act and found themselves on an adventure.

Bolton Children’s Library was transformed into a stage as part of the Octagon Theatre’s Reveal Festival.

This time it was a chance for youngsters to enjoy the drama and excitement of the arts as Headspace Theatre Company staged the story of Salt Shaker and Pepper Pot.

The two are always together and an argument leads to Salt Shaker walking off and results in an Alice in Wonderland type adventure for Pepper Pot to find her friend and venture across the perilous kitchen to save him in time to be on the table for granny’s birthday tea.

With the help of With the help of Sponge, Spoon and a gang of sprouts she must venture across the hot hob, the bubbling sink, and the sticky birthday cake to get her friend back.

Children had a chance to create the gang of sprouts for the production before the play started and took part in the singing and dancing during the special theatre storytelling session.

Narrator Ginny Allende said: “This introduces people to the arts in all sorts of ways and children participate.”

“We started doing this to children’s hospital and it proved to be very popular.”

The Octagon Theatre launched its REVEAL Festival to bring theatre to the people and during which actors leave the stage to create drama in unusual locations around the town.
