EXTRA-MARITAL affairs are usually no laughing matter but, in the theatre, anything goes.

The cast and crew of Tyldesley Little Theatre are hoping their current production is sinfully sweet as they take on a David Tristram comedy.

Premiered on Tuesday and running until Saturday, Unoriginal Sin might have a few of its audience members blushing.

The contemporary adult-only play explores the extra-marital affairs of a diverse set of characters in a cheeky, fast-paced style.

Dubbed a “saucy laugh fest”, the four-night production is directed by Ian Taylor, who has been producing plays at Tyldesley Little Theatre for 25 of his 30 year stint at the busy Lemon Street theatre.

A spokesperson for the theatre company said: “The play is fast moving and full of biting banter as it focuses on the lives and extra-marital affairs of a well-off couple.

“Director Ian has had success with both modern and vintage plays and combines both in this fast-paced, rude and raunchy farce that will make audiences blush and burst out with laughter at the same time!”

Taking to the stage will be Rhiannon Burke as Eve, 24 and never been kissed, Ondra Lachman as her fiance Neville, whose arrival in the show prompts all sorts of trouble.

Meanwhile Alex Clarke takes on the role of Bill, a rich, alcoholic - described by the director as “an adolescent bull on steroids”. While Cat Hughes plays his chequebook-devoted wife Jenny.

Things go wrong as Jenny’s affair with Jeremy looks close be being revealed, as Bill’s best friend Miles, played by Matt Walshaw, reveals the discovery of a mysterious pair of underpants on the light shade. To top it off the sagas take place under the nose of Eve’s father, Catholic priest Father Tomlin, played by Garth Waddup.
