A VICAR from Lostock, who has raised more than £50,000 from charity runs, is hoping to recruit new members to this year’s effort.

The Reverend Mark Cowling, works as young adult missioner in Bolton and Salford for the Manchester Diocese, is gearing up for the BUPA run on May 28, to raise yet more money for local and international causes.

Mr Cowling said: “I first started doing the BUPA run back in 2011 to raise money for both The Bolton Hospice and Christians Against Poverty, which has two centres in Bolton.

“Over the years we have raised more than £50,000, but this year we also plan to raise money for the Tear Fund for projects in Uganda.”

To raise awareness and to get more people running for the cause Mr Cowling is now hoping to recruit additional runners.

He added: “We have a Love Running group, involving people of all abilities and ages, training at Moss Bank Park, including juniors and the details are all on the website - https://www.loverunning.org/.

“However, anybody who wants to be part of the effort can always give me a call for additional information on 07701089420.”
