A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after sending threatening Facebook messages.
Joseph Sheridan, aged 24, of Rushlake Drive, Bolton, pleaded guilty to using words that caused fear of violence.
The messages were sent to a woman between December 5 2016 and February 3 2017.
He also pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent towards another woman.
Sheridan was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months for the Facebook messages and four weeks to be served concurrently, also suspended for 18 months, for the threatening behaviour.
A supervision order was also put in place for 18 months with a rehabilitation activity requirement.
A restraining order was also placed upon Sheridan and he was ordered to pay compensation and costs of £370 in total for the two offences.
