CARE leavers between the ages of 18 and 21 will no longer have to pay council tax.
Bolton Council’s cabinet has approved plans to award a 100 per cent council tax discount for young people leaving local authority care.
Cllr Linda Thomas, the council’s deputy leader, said: “We need to remember that these young people are our responsibility until they are able to stand on their own.”
Implementing the scheme is expected to cost the council less than £50,000 in 2017/18.
