Shoplifter took bottles of gel

A SHOPLIFTER has been sentenced to an electronically tagged curfew after pleading guilty to stealing five bottles of gel, worth £15, from Home Bargains in Bolton on January 16.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court William Henderson, aged 53, of Bury Road, Bolton, was told he will be subject to an eight-week 7pm to 7am curfew, must pay £14.95 compensation plus £170 in costs and charges.

Driver fined and banned

A MOTORIST who admitted several driving offences has been fined £130 and banned from the roads for 12 months.
At Bolton Magistrates Court Danny Dean, aged 26, of Fearnhead Close, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police whilst driving a VW Golf at the junction of St James Street and Buckley Lane, on October 24 last year; driving without due care and attention and without insurance.
In addition to the fine, magistrates ordered Dean to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Bollard crash driver fined

A MOTORIST who hit a traffic bollard has been fined by Bolton magistrates.
Paul Hodgkiss, aged 45, of Chorley Old Road, Horwich, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after hitting the “keep left” bollard in Chorley Old Road, and careless driving on October 2 while driving a Nissan Juke.
Hodgkiss was fined a total of £450, six penalty points were added to his licence and he was ordered to pay a total of £120 in costs and charges.

Fine for motorist

CARELESS driving and driving without a licence has resulted in a motorist being fined a total of £160.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court, John Stones, aged 65, of Dunster Road, Worsley, pleaded guilty to committing the offences in Chorley New Road at the junction with Siemens Street, Horwich, on January 4. He was also ordered to pay £115 in costs.

Curfew for overloaded car driver

A MOTORIST who crashed a car overloaded with passengers has been sentenced to an electronically tagged curfew.
Bolton magistrates heard how Kieran Farnworth, aged 22, of Kilbride Avenue, Bolton, caused extensive damage to property and vehicles whilst driving a VW Golf on Brodick Drive, Bolton on March 31.
Farnworth pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and magistrates were told he has no previous convictions and is remorseful.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and will be subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 10 weeks.
In addition he will be supervised by the probation service for 12 months, must pay £200 in costs and charges and is banned from holding a driving licence for 15 months.

Man admits woman’s assault

A SENTENCE of a two-year conditional discharge has been given to a man who admitted assaulting a woman and damaging her mobile phone.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Stuart Davenport, aged 45, of Minorca Street, Bolton pleaded guilty to committing the offences on March 9.
In addition to the sentence he was ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Uninsured driver fined

A DRIVER who used a car without insurance has been fined £350 by Bolton magistrates.
Daniel Parker, aged 31, of White Lion Brow, Bolton, admitted committing the offence on September 30 last year when driving a Toyota Starlet on Manchester Road.
Parker also had six penalty points added to his driving licence and was ordered to pay £121 in costs and charges.

Three-year ban for driver

A DRINK-driver has been banned from holding a licence for three years by Bolton magistrates.
The court heard that Daniel Yates, aged 28, of Raikes Way, Bolton, committed the offence while driving a Seat Leon in Blackhorse Street, Bolton, on March 4.
He pleaded guilty and, in addition to a £275 fine, was ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Man smashed window

A MAN who smashed a window has been ordered to pay his victim £36.91 compensation by Bolton magistrates.
Gary Dugdale, aged 40, of Norris Street, Little Lever, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on February 27.
The court also ordered him to pay £40 towards prosecution costs.

Man admits assault

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to participate in 12 days of rehabilitation activities after he pleaded guilty to assault and possessing cannabis on March 16. Scott Coop, aged 36, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, was also fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 compensation plus £170 in costs and charges.
