Horwich Town Council has appointed its new Mayor for 2017/18.
Councillor Steve Rock was unanimously selected for the position by his fellow town councillors at a meeting of the finance and general purposes committee.
Councillor Joyce Kellett proposed Cllr Rock for the role and current Mayor, councillor Jim Bullock seconded the motion.
Cllr Rock represents the Claypool ward and is a member of the Liberal Democrats.
He has been a town councillor for nearly 20 years and has previously served as Town Mayor. He was also a Bolton borough councillor.
Cllr Kellett was appointed as deputy mayor, having been proposed by Councillor Kath Schofield, a motion which was again seconded by Cllr Bullock.
An application from Horwich Carnival for financial assistance of £2,500 was also unanimously approved by councillors at the meeting, which followed on from the Annual Parish Meeting.
The meeting was held in the Council Chambers, at the Public Hall, on Lee Lane.
