INSPIRATIONAL speakers will gather in Bolton as part of a Tedx Conference.

More than a dozen distinguished speakers will discuss the theme ‘Innovate, Integrate, Educate’.

The student-led conference – hosted by the University of Bolton – brings together thinkers from across the university and the larger community to explore ideas for the future under the TED ethos of “ideas worth spreading”. The aim of the event is to bring together bright minds to give talks to foster learning, inspiration and wonder — and to provoke conversations.

TED, standing for Technology, Entertainment & Design, is a globally recognised brand that was started in 1984. TED shares an idea in less than 18 minutes.

Every second, 17 TED Talks are viewed online at ted.com in over 100 languages, free-of-charge.

TedxUniversityofBolton will take place on Friday, April 28 at Queen’s Specialist Building in Farnworth.

It will be attended by up to 100 students, academics and members of the local community

Guest speakers will include University of Bolton graduate and Student Union President Vivienne Newton; along with skills for life lecturer and doctorate postgraduate Sarah Telfer.

Dr Telfer first graduated in 1988 with her BA (Hons) in drama, to which she then went on to be a professional actress for seven years in both film and television.

She then decided to apply her knowledge to teaching English as a foreign language in the private and public sector, in the UK and across Europe.

Associate Professor Tim Sprosen, Associate Professor in the Nuffield Department of Population Health at the University of Oxford, will also be speaking.
