ONE voter welcomed Theresa May to Bolton by sticking two fingers up at the Prime Minister.

As Mrs May left Walmsley Parish Hall in Egerton yesterday evening, the man was caught on camera gesturing towards her car.

The video appears to show him first making his hands into the shape of a gun and pointing it at the vehicle, before then putting up two fingers as the motorcade passes his car.

The Prime Minister chose the parish hall – in the Labour-held target seat of Bolton North East – to launch the Conservatives’ general election campaign, just hours after MPs had voted to approve a snap poll on June 8.

On the video, a police officer on a motorbike appears to speak to the man but a spokesman for GMP said no crime had been reported.

It is not known who filmed the footage, which is being widely shared online.

She arrived nearby by helicopter at around 5.30pm and spent 15 minutes addressing local party activists and the nation's media, telling the crowd that only she could deliver strong and stable leadership for the country.

Mrs May said: "Only you can give us the mandate, so vote for a strong and stable leadership in this country.

"Vote for strong and stable leadership this country needs.

"Give me the mandate to lead Britain. Give me the mandate to speak for Britain.

"Give me the mandate to fight for Britain. And give me the mandate to deliver for Britain."
