POLICE have closed and boarded up a house following reports of serious anti-social behaviour.

Residents on Brighton Street complained of vomit being thrown from the windows, late night music and people urinating outside.

The litany of complaints also included allowing visitors to cause nuisance and annoyance to neighbours, behaving in a threatening manner, swearing, arguing, fighting and shouting.

Complaints of anti-social behaviour made by neighbours of the property to Bury Council, Greater Manchester Police and Six Town Housing led to the house being boarded up.

GMP officers obtained a closure order from the courts earlier this month, enforcing it the same day.

A man was banned from entering the house due to his behaviour and will have to find alternative accommodation for the next three months.

Magistrates at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court agreed that the tenant’s behaviour was having a significant negative impact on neighbours and granted the order to provide respite for the community.

A spokesman for Bury Council said: "No one should have to put up with neighbours behaving like this. We hope the closure of this property will make the tenant think about the consequences of his actions and the risk of further penalties if he continues."
