YOUNGSTERS put the 'fun' into fundraising.
Children at Spindle Point Primary School in Kearsley showed their support for the Royal National Institute for the Blind when each class organised a fundraising activity including a fun-a-thon, selling cakes and biscuits, sponsored walk and sports activities.
Poignantly, the year one class completed a paired sponsored walk in which one child was blindfolded and was guided by another pupil.
They raised £2,248 for the charity, and Emma Douglas came into school to collect the cheque.
She spoke to the children about the needs of the blind and partially-sighted people and showed them some of the special equipment used to help them lead an independent life.
The children were told that in the four years Emma had worked for the charity, the amount raised was the largest amount of money that had been raised by a single school in her area.
