A NEW Skoda car sales showroom could be developed in Bolton if planning bosses give it the green light this afternoon.
Bolton Council’s planning committee will discuss the plans, which officers have recommended being approved.
RRG Group Ltd have appealed to open the dealership on land at St Peter’s Way and Topp Way Bolton.
The area is said to be a key gateway to the town and includes the site of the former Clarence Street School which was demolished approximately six years ago.
The planning report states: “This is a key gateway location, extremely visible to motorists access Bolton via the A666 north and south, together with the inner ring road of Topp Way and Turton Street.
“Nevertheless, in terms of feel and function the site is on the periphery of the town centre and relates poorly to it, particularly in terms of distance from the main public transport nodes in the south west of the town centre.”
The application also seeks permission to open workshops together with customer parking and vehicle display storage.
There would 127 car parking spaces with 15 for customers of the dealership.
