TWO Wanderers mad students from Argentina, who found their love of the club through a video game, are hoping to make their dreams come true with a trip to the Macron.

Friends Matias Foti and Nicolas Alvarez, both aged 19, from Buenos Aires, have been following the Whites ever since they started playing as the team on the FIFA computer game about four years ago.

Now they want to make the 6,941 mile journey from their homeland to Horwich.

The pair, who are studying sports journalism, said that as they were going through the games they started to feel an 'affinity with the club'.

From there they started to look at the history of the club, follow the news, learn about the fans and of course, what chants were sang.

They then started a Twitter account to express their love for the Whites.

Not many of the Wanderers matches are shown in Argentina and the first the duo got to watch as fans was the FA Cup replay against Liverpool in 2015.

Mr Foti said: "Then came the decline to League One, it was a hard blow, but we decided to continue because the passion for the club was much stronger."

While the noon kick-off for the final match of the season against Peterborough was early for most fans, it was even earlier for the Argentinian duo, with Buenos Aires four hours behind Horwich.

Clad in their latest replica Wanderers shirts, the pair cheered the Whites to promotion all the way from Buenos Aires, celebrating as wildly as any fan in the Macron when the goals went in.

Mr Foti said: “The promotion to Championship was a great emotion. Undoubtedly, it was a great season supporting the team from match to match.”

Their next goal is to get to the Macron in person and the pair hope other fans will help them achieve their dream.

Mr Foti said: “We thought that we had to go to see a live match at the Macron next season but living in Argentina we have many economic difficulties.”

Encouraged by the support they have received on Twitter the pair have launched a fundraising campaign.

“What most complicates us are the plane tickets, so we want to raise between £3,000 and £4,000 pounds to be present next season.

“The day we get to Bolton is going to be a magic moment, with our shirts and we want fans to wait for us at the airport.

“It is a dream that we dream every day when we go to sleep and hope that it can be fulfilled. Thanks for the support and Come on Bolton.”
