A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after crashing her car this afternoon.
Police were called to the incident, in Bolton Road, Abbey Village, at 1.15pm after reports of a vehicle losing control.
On arrival, a 41-year-old woman was removed from her Toyota Yaris and airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital where she is said to have serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed in both directions for about two hours until it was deemed safe to re-open.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Officers are appealing for any information to help them with their inquiries. Anyone with information should call 101.
