VICTORIA Train Station will remain closed until Wednesday night following the terror attack.

The station in Manchester city centre, near to where the attack happened, remained closed all of today and trains did not call at the station, disrupting many Northern services, including to and from Bolton, as a result.

Rail passengers are advised to check www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/163668.aspx for full details of service changes.

A National Rail spokesman said: “Emergency services are dealing with Monday night’s tragic events that occurred at Manchester Arena.

“As Manchester Victoria is located near the arena, the station will remain closed and no trains will operate.

“Manchester Victoria is expected to remain closed until the end of Wednesday, but please continue to check for further updates.

“Trains will not run to/from and through Manchester Victoria.

“Trains will be diverted, cancelled or start/terminate at alternative stations. You are advised to avoid the Manchester Victoria/Manchester Arena area.

“Please follow instructions from staff and emergency services.”

Transport for Greater Manchester said tram and rail services are not able to run through Victoria Station and bus services are also affected — a detailed list of diverted services is on the TfGM website.

Passengers should be prepared for disruption and allow extra time for their journeys.

Jon Lamonte, chief executive of TfGM, said: “The thoughts of everyone at Transport for Greater Manchester are with all those affected by this horrific event.

“People should not be afraid to travel, however we would ask people to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious or concerns to the police, keep their belongings with them at all times and ensure items are not left behind when leaving buses, trams or trains.

“Working together with our partners, including the emergency services, operators and local authorities, we are determined to keep Greater Manchester moving during this time.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and I’d strongly advise anyone looking to travel in and around Greater Manchester to continue to check the TfGM, Metrolink websites and Twitter feeds.”
