FAMILIES took a journey back to the glamorous 1940s as thousands of visitors flocked to Ramsbottom over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Visitors put their glad rags on for the annual 1940s Weekend at the East Lancashire Railway.
The award-winning weekend has become an annual event for the past 18 years, and regularly attracts more than 7,000 visitors.
Following the terror attacks in Manchester, organisers removed battle re-enactments and weapon demonstrations from this year’s programme.
The railway hosted a minute’s silence at Bury Bolton Street Station at 11am on Saturday to honour the victims of the tragedy.
Highlights include 1940s singers and entertainers, vintage and military vehicles, WW2 tank displays, military exhibitions, vintage memorabilia stalls and 1940s makeovers.
Guests also enjoyed dance sessions, evening entertainment, craft workshops, living history displays, ration card quiz, vintage cream tea services and hundreds of re-enactors.
The event continues today.
