AROUND 250 people took part in a walk to protest against plans to build a Ryder Cup-standard golf course and massive housing development.
Residents marched through the Hulton Park Estate on Sunday, where Peel Holdings wants to press ahead with a £240 million development.
The walk, organised by the Hulton Estate Area Residents Together (HEART) group, was designed to showcase the natural beauty of the area.
This is the second family-friendly walk that the group has organised and it is hoped that they will become regular events to encourage residents to fight back against the development proposals.
Last month, Peel Land and Property submitted a long-awaited application for a ‘once-in-a-generation’ project on the estate, near Westhoughton.
The plans, which are expected to be available to view this week, also include a luxury hotel to be built on the site of the former Hulton Hall, which was demolished in the 1950s.
