SEVERAL new acts have been added to the Head for the Hills festival.

Event organisers announced eleven new bands including the town’s own Harp and a Monkey – who will play on the Sunday.

Clay, a band from Leeds, and The Opera Comic and Fossette have been added to the Friday line up. Announced for Saturday are Ailbhe Reddy, Giant Rooks, who come from Germany, Ayakara and Young Monarch, who take influences from Sigur Ros, Foals and London Grammar.

Joining the festival on Sunday are The Michael McGoldrick Trio, London Astrobeat Orchestra, Manchester heavy funk band, The Exacters and Harp and a Monkey.

Already announced are Mercury Prize nominated Maximo Park, The Stranglers and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor.

The music will played on three stages and there will be plenty of food, drink and other activities to keep festival-goers happy.

Organised by The Met in Bury, the festival will be held from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17, at Ramsbottom Cricket Ground, Acre Bottom.

Founded in 2011 and previously called the Ramsbottom Festival, it is now in its seventh year and is proving as popular as ever.

Tickets are on sale now – day tickets are £29 and weekend tickets £72. Discounts are available for children, families and children. Under sixes go free.
