A CONCERT was thought to be so fitting in the wake of the tragedy in Manchester that the organisers have been asked to repeat it.

The collaboration between Besses Boys Brass Band, Bury Community Choir and Bury Young Voices was originally held the day before the Manchester Arena attack, and was attended by the Mayor.

Mayor of Bury, Dorothy Gunther, said: "I attended the Evening of Brass and Voices concert at Derby High School only 24 hours before the Manchester attack. The concert includes a medley of iconic songs originating from Manchester and it seems truly fitting that we repeat this concert in support of everyone affected by recent tragic events."

Called From Darkness into Light, the concert will support the families of those killed and injured in the attack with all the proceeds going to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

It will be held at Bury Parish Church, The Rock, on Sunday, July 16 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 and will be on sale from Monday at Bury Parish Church cafe and The Fusilier Museum.

The tribute concert will include ‘The Ultimate Manchester Mash-up’, arranged by Andrew Smith. This will comprise songs by the likes of the Stone Roses and Elbow and Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis.

Concert organiser Ruth Taylor said: "What happened at the Manchester Arena was terrible and the knowledge that so many young people have been affected is heartbreaking.

"We feel very humbled to be able to repeat this concert in their honour and to help raise money for the Manchester emergency fund."
