QUEENS and pet pooches were the order of the day at Horwich Carnival.
The first day of the Carnival saw the eight carnival queens and princesses crowned.
The group will represent Horwich in the coming year, carrying out charity work and attending other nearby carnivals.
The carnival royalty were as follows:
- Carnival Queen, Rhianne Johnson, aged 14
- Junior Carnival Queen, Salma Johnson, aged 14
- Carnival Princess, Kiara Chapman, aged 10
- Personality Princess, Libby Urmston, aged 7
- Carnival Rosebud, Olivia Southworth, aged 6
- Junior Carnival Rosebud, Lilly Mae Eccles
- Carnival Petal, Tiana Cracknell, aged 4
- Junior Carnival Petal, Phoebe Urmston, aged 4
- Queen's Attendant, Alyssia Cracknell, aged two
After the crownings, which were done by Miss Lancashire Rose 2017, Jodie Doherty, the dog show took place.
Dozens of dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and colours took part in the 12 categories, including waggiest tail and best rescue dog.
Tomorrow's big event will be the parade through Horwich, which begins at noon in Ramsbottom Road.
Money raised during the carnival, which is part funded by Horwich Town Council, goes to the neonatal unit at Royal Bolton Hospital.
