A DEVELOPER has written to furious residents to reassure them that the building of a controversial housing estate will cause ‘minimum disruption’.

Residents of Park Road, in Little Lever, have been involved in an ongoing dispute with the Great Places Housing Group, which is is building 25 new homes in the area.

Contractors were forced to move off the site earlier this year due to anti-social behaviour, while neighbours have complained about noise and traffic problems at the site.

There are also fears that Park Road would be shut for four weeks to allow a sewer for the new estate to be installed.

However, the developer has now apologised for issuing a notice saying the road would shut on July 10 when the planned work has been delayed.

After a meeting with Little Lever councillors, a public meeting to discuss concerns over the development is now planned.

Row continues over 'absolute shambles' housing development

The letter to residents, sent on behalf of Great Places and contractors Galliford Try, said: “Your councillors brought to us a number of other concerns you have raised, including contractor parking, deliveries and other site activities.

“We are also working through these with Galliford Try to ensure minimum disruption to local residents once works recommence.”

The letter, sent out on July 7, adds: “We would like to thank you for your patience, and ask for your understanding in light of the criminal behaviour and damage suffered on the site for the delay with works recommencing.”

Cllr Sean Hornby, who met with the developers last month, said: “We are encouraged that the developers seem to be listening to the concerns of residents now.

“They have agreed to our demand for a public meeting in advance of any work starting, because residents have felt let down by the way the development has gone so far.”
