TWO Bolton teenagers have been released by police after a biker died in a crash.

The pair, both aged 18, were arrested on Monday in Blackpool on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

They were in a blue Vauxhall Astra that was involved in a collision with an orange Keeway motorbike, and the motorcyclist, a 46-year-old man from Blackpool was knocked unconscious.

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police and the ambulance service attended the crash at around 4.25pm Monday, following reports of an accident at the junction of Squires Gate Lane and Amy Johnson Way, a short distance from Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The two men were arrested at the scene but both have now been released.

One of them has been released under investigation pending further investigation while the other has been released without charge.

Two men other men, also believed to be in the Astra, fled the scene on foot and a police spokesman said there is no update on them.

Police had to close the road in Blackpool for three hours to allow accident investigators to examine the area.
