WORK on the redevelopment of a primary school in Horwich is due to start next month.
The construction of the new Chorley New Road Primary School could begin in the second week of August.
The update came from Ged Kelly, capital programme manager from Bolton Council, who spoke to members of Horwich Town Council on Thursday.
Ged Kelly, Capital Programme Manager from Bolton Council, said: "I am not confident enough to say that we will be able to start in July.
"I will be disappointed if we have not seen some work on the site start during the week of August 7 or a week further."
The school is expected to be complete by August 2018.
The new building would be effectively double the size of the current school and will help to cater for children moving into the future 1,700-home Loco Works development.
The old building will be demolished to make way for recreational and play space. This is scheduled to be complete in 2019.
