UNCERTAINTY surrounds the future of two pubs.

The future of The Starkie Arms, in Tonge Moor Road remains shrouded in mystery after it was suddenly boarded up in June.

Hopes it could soon be serving pints again were raised when the boards were emoved last week, and people were seen going into the pub.

However it has now been boarded up once again and its future appears now clearer.

Brewery Weston Castle declined to comment.

And The Flying Flute, in Bradshawgate, is  looking for a new landlord.

The pub is still open for business.

But the grade two listed building is being marketed by Jeremy Rubin Estate Agents who began the search for a new owner or tenant four weeks ago.

Jeremy Rubin, owner of the company, said there had been interest in the pub, but no firms offers had been made as yet.

He said: “We have spoken to a few parties but haven’t got any specific offers at this stage.”

 “This time of year is quiet hopefully after that summer we can get something done.”
