THREE pals will make an emotional journey to Grenfell Tower as they embark on fundraising walk from London to Manchester to support those affected by the two tragic events to affect the people of both cities.

Bolton School sixth formers Stewart Knights, Nikolaii Stewart and Adam Critchlow are spending part of their summer break to walk around 200 miles, an idea they came up with to raise money and awareness for We Love Manchester Emergency Fund and the Grenfell Tower Emergency Fund.

The three A-level students — who all live in and around Bolton — will be working without a support team and will be carrying their three man tent and food with them as the walk.

They will have one night in a inn and the rest of the time they will be camping.

Stewart aged 17, said: "The events in Manchester and London have affected so many people. The Manchester attack was closer to home with a lot of us knowing the families that have been affected.

"Grenfell Tower was a huge tragedy in which again so many people were affected.

"We wanted to do something to raise money for both funds.

"The idea of the walk came out when we went to Liverpool and had to wait for the train — we said we could have walked it home.

The walk will start from Grenfell Tower to Manchester Victoria Station over seven days.

Stewart said: "I think it will be emotional for all of us when we start the walk at Grenfell Tower."

They are hoping to cover 40 miles a day, staying only one night in a inn and the rest of the time will be camping.

Stewart said: "Road walking is a lot different to walking cross country it will be strenuous and mentally challenging because we will just be plodding and they will be long days."

He added: "We are camping but I enjoy camping and between three of us will be able to carry our equipment and food."

All money raised will be split between both funds to help and show support for the victims and families affected by the harrowing events.

They are hoping to raise £3,600 — about £20 a mile — and say donations will encourage them as they take part in the marathon trek, which will undoubtedly at the end strengthen the friendship between the three.
