A NEW dessert shop and cafe could open in Little Lever.

Councillors will decide on Thursday whether to approve plans for the eatery, which is proposed for a vacant retail unit in Market Street.

The application has been referred to the planning committee at the request of Cllr Paul Richardson, who is worried that late opening hours and an outside seating area could lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour.

Council officers recommend that the application should be approved, saying there is ‘sufficient divide between the premises and nearby residential properties to ensure that there is no detrimental impact on living conditions’.

A similar application was refused for Church Street, Little Lever, in March.
