A SCHOOLGIRL’S design has been chosen to attract shoppers to Bolton Market.

Madison Worthington, from St Mary’s Primary School, won a competition to have her design displayed on a 20ft banner outside Bolton Market.

The competition, which was run by The Bolton News in association with Bolton Market, was launched as part of the ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign.

Madison said: “I feel proud of myself, seeing my banner up there.”

Her design beat hundreds of other children's entries. Madison’s family are also pleased to see her work on display.

Her grandmother, Lisa Worthington, said: “Everyone is so proud of her. I have used the market my whole life. We have brought Madison ever since coming with my mum.

"We all use it. Even since being young we used to come and see the crabs.”

Bolton Market participates in ‘Love Your Local Market’, which is a national campaign celebrating the uniqueness of Britain’s Markets.

Bolton Market general manager, Peter Entwistle, said: “We had some fantastic entries and we would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition. A big congratulations to Madison who came up with the winning design.”
