A NEW restaurant is hoping music will provide diners with the perfect accompaniment to its American-inspired menu.

Lincoln’s American Bar and Grill, in St Andrew’s Court, opened its doors for the first time last night.

And customers will no doubt have been struck by the vintage vinyl records, guitars and pictures of musical icons adorning the walls of the eatery.

Based on the site of the former K-Lounge, the underground unit also used to house Carbon Bar and before that Bergeracs.

The restaurant, owned by Vinny and Gayatri Patel, has a strong music theme courtesy of manager Paul West, himself a keen record collector.

Records currently up on display include American classics such as Marvin Gaye’s I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Ben E King’s Stand By Me and, of course, Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA.

Mr Patel, who also owns the Little Italy takeaways in Deane and Astley Bridge, said the bar was ‘all set and ready to rock’.

He said: “We have got two of the best things here, one is music, one is food.

"When you combine those two things together there’s nothing better than that. We’ve got good food, a good variety of milkshakes and a good variety of desserts. We want people to feel cosy and relaxed and enjoy the time they are down here.”

Mr West said he hoped the vinyl records would prove a talking point for diners and spread from the restaurant into the world of social media.

Customers will be able to buy any record that catches their eye in the restaurant.

And there will be a a link to his own collection on Discogs.com, which they can peruse and order from in-house.

Mr West said: ”The decor on the wall will be quite an interesting talking point, not just in here but on social media.”
