TRAVELLERS have again set up camp on Hulton Lane playing fields .

Around half-a-dozen caravans drove on the field on Saturday, which has become a hotspot for travellers in the last month.

This is the third time within a month travellers have set up camp

Residents believe that this is not the same group as the previous travellers when up 20 caravans have pitched up.

Last month travellers moved on just a week after a group was evicted from the site.

The latest group moved on at around 3pm on Saturday and calls for fencing to be installed to stop them from getting on the field were made by residents.

One resident said: “It is the damage they do to the field and the rubbish they leave.

“Fencing could stop them from going on the field, if we drove on to the field we were would not be allowed to get away with it.”

Another added: “Some leave rubbish behind. This is the third time in a month we have had travellers on the field.

“It seems to be a recent problem on these fields, it is only this year they have started coming on the fields.”

A number of groups of travellers have been setting up in Bolton over the past few weeks, including at sites in Farnworth and Sharples. The council have previously taken action to remove the travellers.
