CALLS have been made to improve car parking as part of plans to redevelop an old council depot into 21 homes.

Westhoughton Town Council made the recommendation in its response to the application for the unused site in Park Road.

No objections were raised but the council requested that the double yellow lines in Park Road from the Tuck In sandwich bar to Alma Road and on both sides of Park Road beyond Leigh Road be removed in order to ease parking issues.

The proposed development by Bolton at Home and the Casey Group, would include 19 three-bedroom houses and two two-bed homes, two more than was originally envisioned.

A statement submitted to Bolton Council described the plans as an ‘exciting’ regeneration of the area.
