YASMIN Qureshi MP travelled to a fracking site to show her support for protestors.
Ms Qureshi visited Preston New Road, in Lancashire, to meet opponents of the controversial method of releasing shale gas— including members of Bolton Against Fracking.
Ms Qureshi, Labour MP for Bolton South, said she had been welcomed by the demonstrators.
“I think they were very heartened by the fact I attended. They seemed very happy. It’s an issue I have raised in the past, especially when the bill was going through parliament.
“I said there should have been a moratorium for two years on fracking and hydraulic drilling to see if the science and technology is there and it’s safe to frack our environment and people to get our energy this way.
“But the government had the majority to get it through parliament.”
