TWO of Bolton’s best-known sporting organisations have teamed up to provide extra value for their members.

Bolton Golf Club and the USN Bolton Arena have created a partnership that allows both sets of members to enjoy the other’s facilities.

The arena will provide Bolton Golf Club members with a free golf screening session with a fitness instructor, a seven-day gym pass, a free month’s membership, a discounted membership and free Arena active card which offers discounts on prices for the gym, classes, football, tennis and badminton among the various sports on offer.

Bolton Golf Club is giving arena members free golf lessons, a discounted members’ rate on golf rounds and an annual golf society event for up to 24 golfers.

Bolton Golf Club in Chorley New Road, Lostock, was founded in 1891 and the original course was laid out in 1912. It has been the venue for numerous county events including the Lancashire Championships.

The USN Bolton Arena was opened in 2001 and is run by Bolton Middlebrook Leisure Trust. In addition to a 3,100-member gym and one of the biggest football centre locally, the arena is home to one of the leading tennis academies in the country and one of the largest gymnastics clubs in Greater Manchester.

It is also a thriving conference and events venue and provides office accommodation and sponsorship opportunities for up to 20 businesses.

Ian Orrell, PGA director of Golf at Bolton Golf Club explained that it was important to give its members the best possible membership value and by teaming up with the arena it was extending its offer.

“I think all sporting clubs – and certainly all golf clubs – need to go this way now and offer extra value for members. This partnership certainly provides that and offers a useful fitness crossover,” he stated.

Gwyn Hughes, marketing manager at the arena said: “We’re delighted with the new partnership because this brings added benefits to members of our respective clubs.

“Today, the business model for sporting organisations means we all need to offer the best possible value to our customers.”
