BABY is out of the corner and back on the big screen for an exclusive screening in Bolton.

The Light Cinema is putting on a special showing of Dirty Dancing next month to help raise funds for Bolton Hospice.

And to get in the mood, cinema staff Bobbie Brown and David Egan recreated one of the film's most iconic scenes in the Market Place to the delight of passing shoppers.

The hospice is putting on its own dancing shoes to celebrate its 25th anniversary and needs to raise around £3.4 million every year to continue to provide free care for its patients.

On September 14, supporters are invited to don their best 80s gladrags and hot-foot it down to the town centre cinema for the exclusive event.

As part of the celebrations, visitors will be greeted in the foyer by dancers who will be doing a turn to some of the film's iconic musical score.

There will also be movie props on the night and a photographer coming along to take pictures.

Followers of the hospice chose the 1987 American romantic classic starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey as the film of choice for the celebrations.

However, it turned out to be quite an appropriate choice as the movie celebrates its 30th birthday this month.

The screening date in Bolton will also mark the anniversary of Patrick Swayze’s death from pancreatic cancer in 2009.

The Hollywood hero danced his way into the hearts of young teenagers everywhere as the holiday resort heartthrob Johnny Castle.

Alongside Jennifer's Frances "Baby" Houseman, the coming-of-age story sees Baby turning from a shy teenager into a determined young woman as she battles between family expectations and her love for Johnny.

Dirty Dancing features famous lines – "I carried the watermelon" – to one of the most iconic finales on film – the Time of My Life lift!

All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the hospice to help them continue to provide specialist care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses.

Community fundraiser Kathryn Willett, said: "After a poll on the hospice Facebook page, Dirty Dancing came out top as the film our supporters would most like to see on the big screen so we can’t wait for the exclusive screening!

"We are extremely grateful to The Light for hosting this special evening to raise money for our patients and their families."

The screening is open to everyone and tickets cost £5,. To book visit bolton.lightcinemas.co.uk/dirty-dancing or for more information call the hospice on 01204 663 065.
